ESM Productions served as a Supervising Producer for the 2013 March on Washington: Let Freedom Ring at the Lincoln Memorial. Over 200,000 people attended this event, joining together to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the first March on Washington. This historic event included the participation of President Barack Obama and former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. The beautiful program featured the church bell from the historic 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, the site of the infamous church bombing of 1963. The bell was rung by President Barack Obama and the King family at the conclusion of the ceremony.
We worked directly with the United States Park Police, the National Park Service, the United States Secret Service, the Executive Office of the President, White House Advance, and the White House Communication Agency to produce this event. The Lincoln Memorial is a very challenging site due to stipulations that it must remain open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, we were able to execute the event and overcome the challenges we faced.
